WANA (Aug 29) – All eight bridges and two tunnels in Hormozgan targeted in the July 17 US strikes were rendered operational within six hours via bypass routes and debris clearance, official sources reported.

 

Speaking today in Bandar Abbas, Abbas Sharafi, Director General of Road Maintenance and Transportation for Hormozgan, stated that assembly of the large Gachin Bridge is complete, with paving operations currently underway. Reconstruction of the Kahurestan Bridge is nearly finished and scheduled to open to traffic later this week.

 

According to Sharafi, repair work on the remaining bridges—where traffic is currently utilizing bypass routes—will be finalized by September to prevent transit disruptions during anticipated autumn floods.

 

Tunnels Formwork Underway

Addressing the status of the Shahid Mirzayi Tunnels, Sharafi noted that structural formwork is complete on the first tunnel, with work on the second set to begin immediately after the first is finished to minimize traffic delays.

 

He emphasized that both tunnels, which currently remain open to traffic, are projected for full restoration by December.
