WANA (Jun 11) – Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters announced in a statement that the Strait of Hormuz has been fully closed to all maritime traffic following what it described as escalating insecurity in the region and the start of U.S. military attacks on several areas in the southern province of Hormozgan.

 

According to the statement, “Due to the security situation in the region, the Strait of Hormuz is hereby closed to all vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships. Any vessel attempting to transit the strait will be targeted.”

 

The headquarters said the decision was made in response to what it called “continued aggression by the criminal United States” and claimed that U.S. forces had launched attacks on several locations in southern Hormozgan Province.

 

The statement also rejected U.S. claims regarding maritime traffic through the strategic waterway, saying: “The U.S. claim that ships are continuing to pass through the strait is denied.”
