WANA (Apr 08) – The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) has confirmed that the Lavan Oil Refinery was targeted in a “cowardly attack” on Wednesday morning, shortly after reports emerged of a ceasefire.

Attack on Lavan Island Infrastructure

According to an official statement from the NIORDC, the Lavan refinery facilities were struck at approximately 10:00 AM local time today. Emergency response teams, including safety and firefighting units, were immediately dispatched to the scene to contain the resulting fires and secure the infrastructure.

“Fortunately, due to the timely evacuation of personnel, no casualties have been reported thus far,” the company stated. While emphasizing that the national fuel supply and distribution network remains stable, the NIORDC issued an urgent appeal to the public:

“We request our dear compatriots to assist their servants in this industry by managing their fuel consumption, avoiding unnecessary travel, and utilizing public transportation.”

Retaliatory Strikes Reported in UAE and Kuwait

In response to the assault on Lavan Island, Iran’s state broadcaster, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), reported via news tickers that a series of missile and drone attacks have been launched against the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

Citing local sources, the reports indicate that these operations were carried out within an hour of the strike on Iran’s oil facilities. While details regarding the specific targets in the UAE and Kuwait remain fluid, the escalation marks a significant broadening of the conflict’s regional theater.
