Strong Condemnation of Israeli Terrorist Attacks on Yemen and the Killing of Journalists
WANA (Sep 10) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned the recent Israeli attacks on residential areas and infrastructure in Yemen, particularly the airstrikes targeting media buildings in Sana’a, which led to the martyrdom and injury of a number of civilians and journalists.
In its statement, the Ministry declared: “The continuation of the Zionist regime’s criminal acts and aggressive assaults against countries in the region, alongside its ongoing genocide and massacres in occupied Palestine, not only threatens the foundations of international law and global norms but also tramples upon all human and ethical principles.”
The Ministry further praised the courageous solidarity of the Yemeni people with the oppressed nation of Palestine, extended condolences to the families of journalists and innocent civilians killed in the attacks, and stressed the urgent need for unity and cooperation among Islamic countries to confront the expansionism and crimes of the occupying Zionist regime.
Meanwhile, international media outlets, including Al Jazeera quoting sources within the Ansarullah movement, reported that Israeli warplanes struck the offices of the newspapers 26 September and Al-Yemen in Sana’a, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries among journalists and civilians.
Brigadier General Yahya Saree, spokesperson for Yemen’s Armed Forces, rejected Israeli claims that missile launch sites were the intended targets, stressing: “All of the enemy’s airstrikes deliberately hit purely civilian and media facilities, including the headquarters of the 26 September and Al-Yemen newspapers, leading to the martyrdom of journalists and the killing of innocent passersby.”
These assaults come just one day after Israel attempted—unsuccessfully—to strike Doha in a bid to assassinate Hamas leaders, an act that has already drawn widespread regional and international condemnation.
