WANA (Feb 23) – A text message from an unknown sender has been delivered to a number of Iranian citizens in recent hours, raising concerns about a potential cybersecurity breach.

 

The message, addressed directly to “the oppressed people of Iran,” reads: “The President of the United States is a man of action. You will soon see.”

 

Initial investigations indicate that the message was sent to approximately 50,000 phone numbers after one of the country’s bulk advertising SMS distribution systems was allegedly hacked.

 

This is not the first such incident. In March 2024, a similar breach of a mass messaging platform resulted in the distribution of a fake warning message falsely attributed to Iran’s Civil Defense Organization.

 

Iranian authorities have not yet released further details regarding the source of the latest breach or the identity of those responsible.
