WANA (Jul 06) – Switzerland has announced the reopening of its embassy in Iran, which had been closed during the recent conflict with Israel. Switzerland serves as the protecting power for the United States in Iran.

After more than two weeks of closure, the Swiss Foreign Ministry stated on its X account (formerly Twitter):

“The Swiss Embassy in Tehran has reopened, in the presence of the Ambassador.

This decision was made after a comprehensive risk analysis and in consultation with Iran and the USA.

Switzerland continues to represent US interests in Iran under its protecting power mandate.

Consular services, including visa issuance, are not yet available at this time.”
