WANA (Jun 26) – The city of Tabas, located in South Khorasan Province in eastern Iran, recorded a temperature of 46.8°C (116.2°F), making it the hottest place on Earth during the 24-hour period ending at 06:00 UTC on June 26, 2026.

 

According to data published by Relay Weather, based on observations from the Ogimet weather database, the Tabas meteorological station recorded the highest temperature of any reporting weather station worldwide during the period.

 

The data showed that Adrar, Algeria, ranked second with 46.7°C (116.1°F), while Bandar Deyr, a port city in Iran’s Bushehr Province, also recorded 46.7°C, placing third on the global list of hottest locations.

 

Situated on the edge of Iran’s central desert, Tabas is well known for its extremely hot and arid climate and has repeatedly appeared among the world’s hottest locations in recent years.

 

The South Khorasan Meteorological Department also reported that Tabas was the hottest location in the province on Thursday, with a maximum temperature of 45°C (113°F).
