WANA (Aug 27) – Hossein Taeb, head of Iran’s Basij Organization, said that any attempt to disrupt Iran’s economy could have repercussions for the U.S. economy, Israel and the global economy.

 

Taeb said that Iran is now in a “neither war nor peace” situation following the 12-day war, arguing that pressure on the country could continue through economic, security and cognitive warfare after the end of the military conflict.

 

He said the objective of such pressure is to disrupt production, trade and businesses, stressing that merchants, producers and traders have an important role to play in keeping Iran’s economy functioning.

 

Americans Are Seeking to Destroy Iran

Taeb also said: “Today, everyone understands that the Americans are seeking to destroy Iran.” He added that, in his view, Washington is seeking to increase pressure on Iran by creating economic difficulties, social discontent and internal divisions.

 

Taeb said that after the experience of military confrontation, the United States is now testing its chances through economic pressure, with the aim of disrupting Iran’s production, trade and economic activity.

 

Strait of Hormuz at the Center of Economic Pressure

Taeb also described the Strait of Hormuz as an important factor in the region’s economic equation, saying Iran has maintained its control over the waterway. He warned that attempts to exert pressure through the Strait of Hormuz could have repercussions for the U.S. economy and global energy markets.

 

He also called for lower fuel and energy consumption, increased domestic production and greater market stability, saying businesses and the private sector have an important role in countering economic pressure.

 

Taeb concluded by saying: “If they disrupt Iran’s economy, the U.S. economy will also be disrupted, the Israeli economy will face difficulties, and the global economy will suffer. Therefore, they have no choice but to honor their commitments.”
