Taj: FIFA Must Issue Multiple-Entry Visas for Iran National Team
WANA (May 28) – Mehdi Taj, president of Iran’s Football Federation, said FIFA must issue multiple-entry visas for Iran’s national team players to ensure smooth travel arrangements during the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking to reporters, Taj said Iran’s accommodation plans for the tournament have been finalized and the team will be based in Mexico. He explained that FIFA had prepared the relevant list, but the official announcement was delayed due to holidays. Eventually, Iran, Mexico, FIFA, and the United States agreed to announce the arrangement simultaneously.
He noted that previous concerns about short-term stays in the United States have now been resolved through the team’s accommodation in Mexico. Taj added that the national team is continuing its preparations without any major issues and expressed hope that Iranians living in the United States would strongly support the players during the tournament.
Taj stressed that FIFA should provide multiple-entry visas for Iran’s squad so players can travel freely when needed. He warned that if visas for entering the United States are not issued, the consequences would be clear.
He also said Iranian authorities and the Football Federation are seriously following the matter to ensure the country’s dignity and standing are fully respected. According to Taj, the national team is fully prepared for the challenges ahead on the road to the World Cup.
Regarding the possible return of Sardar Azmoun to the national team, Taj said he is currently unaware of the details surrounding the issue.
