Takht-Ravanchi: No Meeting Scheduled with U.S. Officials
WANA (Jun 29) – Majid Takht-Ravanchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, has dismissed recent statements by American officials regarding the timing of potential negotiations between Tehran and Washington, calling them inaccurate and unfounded.
“There has been no agreement or arrangement made concerning the issues being discussed,” Takht-Ravanchi stated in an interview, directly refuting claims made by U.S. officials suggesting that talks with Iran were imminent.
“The remarks made by the Americans are not correct,” he added.
His comments come in response to recent statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, who claimed earlier this week that a meeting and potential agreement with Iranian officials might take place in the coming days. Following Trump’s remarks, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that “whenever a date for negotiations is set, we will announce it.”
Meanwhile, Steve Witkoff, the U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, echoed optimism, saying he had a “strong feeling” that Iran was ready for a deal and expressed hope for reaching a comprehensive peace agreement.
Despite these assertions from Washington, Iranian officials continue to emphasize that no talks have been scheduled and that recent U.S. narratives do not reflect the reality of diplomatic contacts.
