Takht-Ravanchi Slams Witkoff’s Remarks: “Irrelevant and Inaccurate”
WANA (Mar 05) – Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, has dismissed recent statements made by the U.S. President’s Special Envoy for West Asia, Witkoff, calling them irrelevant and inaccurate.
“We have neither sent any messages to the United States nor received any. Our focus remains on self-defense,” Takht-Ravanchi stated.
He also criticised Witkoff’s account of the negotiations, saying, “Witkoff’s narrative of the talks was incorrect. We did not seek to show off; we only stated that enriched materials are the result of our scientific achievements, and Iran is ready to forego this if it receives something beneficial in return.”
Takht-Ravanchi further urged Witkoff to come forward and explain why the United States changed its position after being satisfied with the Geneva negotiations, shifting toward violence and aggressive actions within 48 hours.
“It is no secret that Iran possesses 60% enriched uranium, which could potentially be used to produce about 10 or 10.2 nuclear bombs, but we have never claimed any intention of using them,” he added.
