International media reported several explosions in the early hours of Saturday in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. According to these reports, at least seven explosions were heard in the southern parts of the city, and parts of the capital experienced power outages. Journalists on the scene said the blasts were strong enough to shake building windows, after which the sound of low-flying aircraft was heard.
Venezuelan sources also reported that the residence of the defense minister, “Hegroti” Airport, the La Carlota air base, a naval facility in La Guaira, and Caracas’s main telecommunications tower were targeted.
