WANA (Apr 11) – The latest developments from the trilateral negotiations in Islamabad indicate that the talks have entered a more advanced, technical phase, marked by the presence of specialized committees from the Iranian delegation.

 

According to Mohammad Golzari, Head of the Government Information Council and a media member of Iran’s negotiating team, as the atmosphere of the talks became more serious, expert-level members were dispatched to the negotiation venue. He described this shift as a transition from general discussions to more detailed and technical deliberations.

 

The Iranian delegation, led by the Speaker of Parliament, includes senior officials from the government, legislature, and defense sectors. Observers see this composition as a sign of Iran’s coordinated and assertive approach in pursuing its national interests. Golzari noted that this level of institutional alignment has attracted attention from international media and analysts, who interpret it as evidence of Tehran’s strong commitment to the negotiations.

 

Following the delegation’s arrival in Islamabad, several high-level meetings took place. These included a meeting between the Speaker of Parliament and Pakistan’s Army Chief, during which key frameworks and preconditions were outlined. A subsequent meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was also held to pave the way for the formal start of the negotiations.

 

Meanwhile, Iranian expert committees held multiple internal sessions to review and align their positions, ultimately reaching full readiness to enter the talks.

 

As developments progressed, ongoing coordination—particularly regarding the verification of a halt in attacks on Beirut, addressing reported ceasefire violations, and facilitating the release of Iran’s frozen assets—helped create the conditions necessary for the formal launch of the trilateral negotiations.

 

With the talks now in the technical phase, the focus has shifted to detailed assessments and in-depth discussions. Officials say this stage could prove decisive in shaping the direction and outcome of the talks.
