WANA (Jul 26) – A tanker that allegedly switched off its radar system and deviated from the route designated by the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz exploded after striking a naval mine, according to an informed source.

 

The source said the incident occurred earlier on Sunday in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the source, the tanker had turned off its radar system and left the navigation corridor designated by Iranian authorities before hitting a naval mine and exploding.

 

The source also noted that Iran had repeatedly warned vessels to remain within the designated shipping lanes, stressing that any ship leaving the announced routes would bear responsibility for the consequences.
