WANA (Aug 01) – The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced it has received a report of a maritime incident occurring 11 nautical miles northeast of Lima, off the coast of Oman.

 

A security officer aboard a commercial oil tanker reported that the vessel was struck by an unidentified projectile. The impact reportedly caused damage to the ship’s engine room.

 

No injuries or further structural damage have been reported at this time.

 

In an official advisory, the maritime safety authority urged all vessels operating in the area to stay informed of the latest maritime security updates and maintain a high level of situational awareness regarding developments in their operational environment.
