WANA (Aug 01) – Details have emerged regarding a non-compliant tanker targeted while navigating the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz near the coast of Oman earlier today.

 

Satellite data indicates that the Bermuda-flagged liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier GasLog Shanghai, which was transporting Qatari LNG, was struck by a projectile after disabling its transponder in violation of transit regulations.

 

The strike was one of two incidents reported this morning in the southern Strait of Hormuz within Omani waters, with ships targeted 11 nautical miles northeast of Lima and 21 nautical miles northeast of Khasab.
