Tanker Reportedly Hit Is Not Linked to Iran
WANA (Oct 18) – On Saturday night, October 18, several foreign media outlets claimed that a U.S. submarine had targeted an LPG carrier in regional waters, alleging that the vessel was “owned by Iran.”
The report was later echoed by some Iranian media outlets; however, no official Iranian authority has issued any statement confirming or denying the incident, and details remain unverified.
Meanwhile, an Iranian news agency reported that, according to its journalists’ inquiries and initial data from sources familiar with maritime operations, the vessel in question has no connection with the fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
As of this report’s publication, neither Iranian nor U.S. officials have commented on the matter, and the exact nature of the incident remains under investigation.
