WANA (Jun 27) – Following last night’s U.S. strikes on targets near Sirik, informed sources say Iran is considering suspending its technical talks with the United States. According to a source familiar with the matter, the Iranian negotiating team is reviewing the possibility of calling off the talks, while consultations over the appropriate response are still ongoing.

 

The source said members of the negotiating team view the U.S. attack as “a clear violation of the first article of the ceasefire” and believe it should be met with a response at the level of suspending the technical negotiations. However, no final decision has been made, and internal consultations are continuing.

 

The developments came after the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed it had carried out strikes on targets along Iran’s coastline, including what it described as missile and drone storage sites and coastal radar facilities near the Strait of Hormuz. Washington claimed the operation was conducted in response to an alleged Iranian drone attack on a commercial vessel.

 

Iran, meanwhile, condemned the strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and the ceasefire, warning that any further attacks would be met with a broader response.

 

If Tehran ultimately decides to suspend the technical talks, the move could mark a significant escalation in tensions and underscore the direct impact of military developments on the diplomatic process.
