Tehran Has Opened a New Chapter in Its Defense Policy
WANA (Jun 08) – Sadegh Amoli Larijani, Chairman of Iran’s Expediency Discernment Council, said in a post on X that Iran’s recent action in defense of Lebanon was not merely a military response but a formal declaration of a new strategic doctrine.
According to Larijani, the operation sent a clear message that any attack on one of the pillars of the Axis of Resistance would trigger a response extending beyond geographical borders and could alter regional dynamics.
He further stated that Iran had also made it clear that any escalation of conflict or attack on the country’s critical infrastructure would be met with a comprehensive and deterrent response. Such a response, he said, could extend to all actors supporting such confrontation.
Larijani described the development as the beginning of a new chapter in Tehran’s defense policy, one in which the protection of Iran’s regional influence is pursued not by waiting for threats to emerge, but through initiative and offensive capabilities.
