WANA (May 28) – Ali-Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to preserving its peaceful nuclear program and denounced Western efforts to restrict its scientific and technological rights during a key security summit in Moscow. Ahmadian emphasized Tehran’s insistence on maintaining nuclear independence, including fuel cycle and enrichment capabilities.

“Iran welcomes dialogue, but remains firm on protecting its nuclear rights,” Ahmadian said, condemning what he described as the misuse of sanctions and technology by hegemonic powers to deny nations their legitimate rights, citing Iran’s peaceful nuclear energy program as a primary example.

Global Security Requires Multilateralism

Ahmadian called for a shift from unilateralism to multilateral cooperation in global security frameworks. Addressing representatives from participating nations, he stated, “The foundation of a comprehensive security umbrella must be based on multilateralism, where equal and fair opportunities are available to all nations.”

West’s Unilateralism Fuels Regional Tragedies

The Iranian official criticized the West’s unilateral policies, saying they have caused widespread suffering, particularly in West Asia. “Western unilateralism, rooted in oppression and exploitation, has created humanitarian disasters across Yemen, Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, and Iraq,” he said. “Today, the region has become a showcase of such atrocities.”

Referring to the war in Gaza, he described the crisis as “an unprecedented crime” in which civilians, especially women and children, are being starved to death.

A Call for Inclusive Global Security Architecture

Ahmadian highlighted the need for a new international security architecture that prioritizes human dignity and broad participation. He argued that the current global political and security structures have been hijacked by Western powers and must be reformed to serve the independence and freedom of nations.

Gratitude to Russia

Concluding his remarks, Ahmadian thanked Russia for hosting the important security meeting, underscoring the importance of collaborative dialogue in shaping a fairer global order.
