WANA (Jul 06) – Public transportation usage has surged during the farewell ceremony in Tehran, with the city’s metro network recording an unprecedented volume of passengers.

 

The Deputy CEO of the Tehran Metro announced that 11 million passengers have been transported, accounting for a total of 16 million trips since the start of the ceremonies.

 

Earlier, Masoud Lotfi, CEO of the Tehran and Suburbs Metro Operating Company, highlighted the rapid influx of mourners, reporting that 1,972,328 trips were registered across the network in less than two hours after the procession got underway today.

 

From 5:30 a.m. on Saturday until 7:00 a.m. on Sunday alone, a total of 7,141,212 trips were recorded across Tehran’s metro lines as massive crowds traveled from various parts of the city and surrounding areas to attend the final farewell.
