WANA (Sep 08) – The University of Tehran has secured a global ranking of 401–450 in the 2024 ISC World University Rankings, while also being recognized as the top university in Iran, according to the latest results released by the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC).

Following Tehran University, Tehran University of Medical Sciences ranked in the 501–600 band, and Sharif University of Technology in the 601–700 band.

This year, 72 Iranian universities are included in the ISC World Rankings, an increase of three compared to last year. The University of Tehran achieved 374th place in research, 504th in international activities, and 1029th in technology and innovation.

Unlike other systems, the ISC ranking is conducted without requiring universities to self-report. Over the past seven years, ISC has developed a comprehensive and reliable database that serves as a valuable source for research policy-making and guiding universities toward global competitiveness.

The ranking only considered universities that had registered at least 850 publications in the Web of Science database between 2020 and 2022. Data for the evaluation were drawn from USPTO, Web of Science (WOS), and InCites.

In total, the 2024 ISC World University Rankings included 2,661 universities from 114 countries across six continents. China led the list with 432 universities, followed by the United States (325), India (163), Japan (123), Turkey (102), the United Kingdom (100), Germany (74), Brazil (73), Iran (72), and South Korea (68).
