WANA (Mar 26) – Following recent regional developments, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid held a phone call to discuss the consequences of the latest military attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran.

During the conversation, President Pezeshkian highlighted the strong public support for Iran’s armed forces, praising what he described as the “remarkable and historic resistance” of the Iranian people against what he called “illegal and inhumane aggression.” He reaffirmed Iran’s firm determination to continue its legitimate and decisive defense against any form of aggression.

Pezeshkian also expressed appreciation for the principled positions of the Iraqi government, people, and religious authorities in supporting Iran. He thanked them for their messages of condolence following the deaths of several Iranian officials and citizens, describing these gestures as a reflection of the deep ties between the two nations.

Emphasizing Iran’s right to self-defense, he warned against efforts by the United States and Israel to create division among Muslim countries and called for regional vigilance against destabilizing plots. He also condemned attacks on Iraqi military and security positions, reiterating Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation with Iraq and welcoming a future visit by his Iraqi counterpart to Tehran.

For his part, President Rashid extended his condolences over the loss of Iranian officials and civilians, strongly condemning the attacks by the United States and Israel. He stressed Iraq’s full solidarity with the Iranian people in the face of these actions.

Rashid further described the military actions against Iran as a threat to all Muslim nations and the broader region, reaffirming Iraq’s principled opposition to the conflict. He also underscored that Iraq would not allow its territory to be used by any third party to carry out aggression against Iran.
