Terrorist Attack on Police Patrol Kills Five Officers in Iran
WANA (Aug 22) – A terrorist attack on two police patrol units in Iranshahr on Friday (August 22) killed five Iranian police officers.
According to Iran’s Police Information Center, “Armed terrorists today attacked two patrol units on the Khash–Iranshahr road, killing five servants of law and security in Iran.”
The attack took place near the Damen police station in Iranshahr County. The assailants fled the scene after carrying out the assault.
Official sources reported that security and police forces have launched an operation to identify and pursue those responsible for the attack, with further updates to be announced.
The victims of the terrorist attack were identified by the Police News Center as: First Sergeant Mohammadreza Rahimi from Zabol, Sergeant Mohammad Norouzi from Torbat, Second Sergeant Hassan Toli from Golestan, Soldier Hadi Royaei from Kerman, and Captain Gholamreza Vahdani from Zabol.
Iranshahr is a county in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, located 337 kilometers from Zahedan, the provincial capital.
The terrorist group Jaish al-Zulm has claimed responsibility for this attack in a statement.
This marks the second time in the past ten days that Jaish al-Zulm militants have targeted the protectors of public security in this Iranian province, killing several people.
The group, which is based in Pakistan near Iran’s border, plans and carries out terrorist operations.
In recent years, this separatist terrorist group has been responsible for attacks that have killed a number of Iranian civilians and military personnel.
