WANA (May 20) – The Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, stating that we will make the enemy regret any renewed aggression against Iran, said: “The overt and covert movements of the enemy show that they are seeking a new round of war.”

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, in his third audio message addressed to the Iranian people, said: “For about a month, we have witnessed a cessation of fire on the military battlefronts, but the overt and covert movements of the enemy show that, in parallel with economic and political pressures, the enemy has not abandoned its military goals and is seeking a new round of war and a new adventure.”

The Enemy Is Trapped in a Strategic Challenge

He said the enemy is trapped in a strategic challenge, causing protests over gasoline prices, bonds, interest rates, and inflation. Many Trump supporters see the Iran war as Israel’s war and oppose Trump’s promises.

Ghalibaf further stated: “This very chaotic situation that has been created in American public opinion and economy has caused the American president to hesitate between two options; the first option is prioritizing the end of the war, paying its costs as the loser of the war, and the second option is restarting the war or continuing the naval blockade to pressure and force Iran to accept surrender.”

He said that monitoring America’s actions shows that they still hope Iran will surrender and wrongly believe they can coerce Iran through continued sanctions, economic pressure, military escalation, and new attacks.

We Must Disappoint the Enemy Regarding Iran’s Surrender

The Speaker of the Parliament emphasized: “In the face of such a plan, we must correct the enemy’s miscalculation and disappoint him regarding Iran’s surrender by strengthening our readiness for an authoritative and effective response to potential attacks, and also by increasing economic resilience, so that the enemy is forced to accept and yield to the rightful demands of the Iranian people in negotiations.”

Enemy Will Regret Any Renewed Aggression Against Iran

Addressing the people, Ghalibaf said: “To reassure the Iranian people, I state that our authoritative military forces have made the best use of the ceasefire opportunity to reconstruct our military capability, and by Divine grace and the backing of the people, they enjoy such readiness today that will surprise the enemy and will certainly make them regret any renewed aggression against Iran.”

The Speaker of Parliament emphasized that our success relies on people’s steadfastness, stating: “The enemy’s big mistake is not understanding, as the Mr. President said, that the Iranian nation never bows to force. This awareness and kindness make our duty to solve economic problems heavier.”

Domestic Economy & Government Response

Addressing Inflation and Economic Hardships

Ghalibaf acknowledged that during the 80 days of this conflict, Iranians have faced severe economic difficulties alongside external threats. He noted that he is fully aware of the price jumps in basic commodities, specifically rising costs for essential food items like rice, poultry, eggs, and meat, which have reduced purchasing power and impacted livelihoods.

Countering Enemy Calculations

He stressed that the enemy’s main miscalculation was assuming that financial pressure would break Iran’s national cohesion. Instead, the public remained steadfast. Ghalibaf stated it is only natural for the people to expect all branches of government to work with equal “jihadist” dedication to resolve these livelihood issues.

Parliamentary Oversight and Meetings

To address these economic strains, Ghalibaf highlighted that the Parliament has maintained strict oversight since the start of the aggression. Committees and relevant ministries have held over 120 supervisory sessions focused on securing supply chains and controlling inflation.

Furthermore, over the past two weeks, the Parliament held two virtual open-floor sessions with the Ministers of Agricultural Jihad and Cooperation to directly address food security and public welfare.

Establishment of a Special Parliamentary Oversight Committee for Livelihoods

To ensure the steady supply of basic commodities, Ghalibaf announced the temporary formation of a “Special Oversight Committee” within the Parliament.

This high-level committee will include the heads of key specialized commissions (Agriculture, Economy, Energy, Industry, and Budget), parliamentary legal and oversight deputies, and the chiefs of the Parliament Research Center and the Supreme Audit Court.

The body is tasked with continuously tracking the procurement and distribution of essential goods and regularly reporting progress directly to the public to bypass bureaucratic bottlenecks.

The Need for Active, Tactical, and Jihadist Economic Management

The Speaker emphasized that under current conditions, economic ministries must prioritize the stable supply of basic goods through precise, active management.

He noted that inflation is not merely a production issue but spans a complex chain—from currency allocation and input imports to proper storage, distribution network monitoring, and combating hoarding.

Reports indicate that while some price hikes stem from wartime conditions and deep-seated structural issues, a significant portion is driven by managerial inefficiencies, middlemen, and hoarders who destabilize the market even when supply is sufficient.

Utilizing Electronic Food Subsidies (Kalabarg) and Creative Solutions

Ghalibaf urged the Central Bank and the Ministries of Agriculture and Industry (SMT) to adopt coordinated, innovative management strategies tailored to the current crisis.

He specifically highlighted that maximizing the potential of the existing electronic food subsidy (Kalabarg) infrastructure could resolve many ongoing livelihood issues.

He stated that standard bureaucratic methods are insufficient for an economic war, welcoming creative initiatives and noting that parliamentary research bodies stand ready to assist the government.

Condemning Political Blame and the War of Wills

Addressing internal politics, Ghalibaf criticized those who, driven by political motives, point fingers exclusively at the government or the President without acknowledging the reality of the conflict.

He asserted that acting as if no war is taking place and misdirecting blame severely damages national unity. Concluding his message, the Speaker stated that Iran is engaged in a definitive “war of wills” that will shape the nation’s future history.

He expressed absolute confidence that through jihadist management, national solidarity under the leadership’s guidance, and the resilience of the public, Iran will overcome these hardships to secure an independent, powerful, and advanced future.
