The Latest Death Toll of the Riots in Iran
WANA (Jan 22) – The Foundation of Martyrs and Veterans Affairs of Iran issued a formal statement, announcing that 2,427 citizens—comprising both security personnel and civilians—were “martyred” during recent terrorist and armed attacks, out of a total of 3,117 fatalities recorded during the unrest.
“The treacherous hand of Iran’s enemies, acting through trained terrorist elements and in continuation of the ’12-Day War,’ has once again been stained with a heinous crime,” the statement read.
Expressing profound grief over the “monumental tragedy,” the Foundation reported that according to data from the Legal Medicine Organisation, the casualties were victims of atrocities reminiscent of the brutal tactics used by Takfiri and ISIS groups. “The Iranian nation stands united today in mourning the pure and innocent lives of these ‘shrouded-in-blood’ martyrs,” the statement added.
The report detailed the extreme violence committed by organised terrorist cells, noting that victims were subjected to horrific acts, including dismemberment and decapitation. Many of the individuals were identified as innocent bystanders killed in “blind” acts of terror or protesters who were targeted by organised agents within crowds to facilitate “manufactured casualties.”
The Foundation vowed that the Iranian nation would not let this pass: “The terrorists affiliated with the criminal Zionist regime and their lackeys—who were supported, equipped, and armed by the criminal leaders of the United States—will be held accountable for their wickedness.”
Meanwhile, the Head of the Legal Medicine Organisation of Iran, in separate remarks, had stated that a significant number of the victims include women, children, the elderly, and innocent passersby.
This official added that specialised findings indicated that the deceased were targeted with a diverse range of weapons, including live combat ammunition used by trained “Zionist-affiliated elements”, shotguns, hunting rifles, and even axes.
He further noted that “the level of savagery was such that 15 individuals—including a soldier defending a bank and a mosque servant—were trapped in deliberate fires and their bodies were completely immolated. The use of specific incendiary materials designed to melt the human body and the precise targeting of vital organs confirm the professional, terrorist nature of the elements operating against the public and security forces.”
