The Most Expensive Breakup in History: The Cost of Trusting Trump
WANA (Jun 06) – “$150 billion wiped off Tesla’s value in a matter of hours.” This was the headline carried by major news agencies following a public rift between Elon Musk and Donald Trump.
This dramatic fallout came less than three months after the two were seen riding together in a Tesla, with media reports highlighting their seemingly close relationship. Musk had even contributed over $300 million to Trump’s campaign.
At the beginning of Trump’s presidency, some reformist analysts inside Iran suggested that “Iran should use Elon Musk as a communication channel to reach Trump.” But the current developments reveal a different reality—Trump hasn’t remained loyal even to one of his biggest donors.
Commenting on the matter, Iranian political analyst Dariush Sajadi stated: “Given the deeply anti-Iranian stance of the U.S., Iran must approach this country with the highest level of distrust.”
Iranian experts believe that under current conditions, neutralizing sanctions and focusing on a robust economic growth strategy—despite ongoing sanctions—may prove more effective for Iran’s future than renewed negotiations.
