WANA (Aug 17) – Iranian lawmaker Manouchehr Motaki has described the next 90 days as a critical period for determining the emerging regional order, pointing to the broader consequences of the recent war and ongoing diplomatic efforts.

 

Speaking at a conference on Iran’s role in reshaping the regional order and developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, Motaki said the outcome of the war would largely determine the future balance of power and regional alignment.

 

Referring to recent negotiations between Iran and the United States, he claimed that Washington was not committed to implementing the understandings reached and could be using negotiations to manage the situation until the November U.S. elections. According to Motaki, the United States is pursuing four tactics—“limited war, ceasefire, blockade and negotiations”—to get through the three-month period.

 

The Tehran lawmaker also stressed the need to coordinate diplomatic efforts with Iran’s military capabilities, warning that Iran should avoid miscalculations or being deceived during the negotiation process.

 

Motaki described the coming 90 days as a “difficult” period and said they would be crucial in determining the future course of political and security developments in the region.
