The Security of Regional Countries Is Deeply Interconnected
WANA (Aug 03) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the security of regional countries is deeply interdependent and that economic and trade relations can only flourish under peace, stability, and calm.
During a joint press conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today, President Pezeshkian said: “First, I am pleased to be visiting the friendly and neighboring country of Pakistan, which I consider my second home. I would like to sincerely thank the respected government and my dear brother, Mr. Shehbaz Sharif, for their gracious hospitality.”
He added: “The positions held by Pakistan’s government, parliament, political parties, religious leaders, and the honorable people in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the recent 12-day terrorist aggression by the Zionist regime and the United States were highly encouraging. I sincerely thank the honorable Prime Minister and other Pakistani officials and our friendly and brotherly country for their support.”
The president continued: “The good neighborliness, closeness, and friendship between Iran and Pakistan are deeply rooted in history, and there are profound cultural, religious, and spiritual bonds between our two nations.”

Trade Relations Advancing Toward $10 Billion Target
Pezeshkian stated: “Promoting neighborly relations is a central principle in Iran’s foreign policy. Our perspective on Pakistan is not just as a neighbor but as a brother.”
He noted that there is a strong joint determination to deepen bilateral relations and cooperation in all fields, adding: “I firmly believe that we can easily and rapidly increase the current $3 billion trade volume to the targeted $10 billion.”
The president highlighted that: “Important agreements were reached during this trip in political, economic, trade, and cultural sectors. Several key documents were signed, which will facilitate and enhance relations in trade, culture, tourism, transportation, and scientific and educational exchanges.”
He stressed Iran’s commitment to taking concrete steps to implement these agreements through continued contact and dialogue.

Border Security to Be Strengthened Through Bilateral Cooperation
President Pezeshkian emphasized the need for expanding transit routes—including rail, road, and maritime links—upgrading border markets, easing trade, and establishing joint free economic zones.
He said, “Given the threats posed by terrorist groups in border areas, both countries emphasized increasing cooperation to ensure border security and safeguard the comfort and peace of citizens in border cities.”
He also stated: “We fortunately share many common views on regional and international developments.”
Economic Growth Achievable Through Peace
Pezeshkian reaffirmed: “We believe that the security of countries in a regional setting is deeply interconnected, and that in the shadow of peace, stability, and calm, economic and trade growth will be realized.”
He strongly condemned the inhumane crimes of the Israeli regime in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, highlighting the regime’s continued genocide in Gaza, blatant aggression, and destabilizing actions. He emphasized the urgent need for their immediate cessation.

He further stated: “Both sides agree that the countries of the region, especially Muslim nations, must pursue active, effective, and pragmatic cooperation to confront the aggressions of the expansionist Zionist regime.”
Pezeshkian said initiatives were discussed to strengthen collaboration toward regional stability and security.
Pezeshkian Invites Shehbaz Sharif to Tehran
The president called on international institutions, particularly the UN Security Council, to abandon double standards and actively prevent violations of member states’ sovereignty, the spread of war, and the killing of civilians.
At the end of his remarks, he said: “Once again, I thank you for your warm hospitality, sincerity, and brotherhood. I extend an official invitation to my brother, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to visit Tehran at the earliest possible opportunity to continue our discussions.”
Pakistan Supports Iran’s Right to Peaceful Nuclear Energy
In the joint press conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed President Pezeshkian and said: “On behalf of myself and the people of Pakistan, I condemn Israel’s attack on Iran and express our full support for Iran. I extend my condolences on the martyrdom of Iranian military commanders and express solidarity with the wounded.”
He added, “The Supreme Leader, the president, and the armed forces of Iran courageously resisted Israel’s aggression and dealt them a blow. Iran has every right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.”
Moving Toward $10 Billion in Trade; Shared Fight Against Terrorism
Sharif continued: “I am pleased that we held extensive discussions about bilateral ties. Today, we signed several agreements, and we hope to implement them soon to raise trade volume to $10 billion. Iran and Pakistan share common goals. If a terrorist attack happens in Iran, it is as if it happened in Pakistan. We strongly emphasize the fight against terrorism.”
Appreciation for Iran’s Support of Gaza and Call for Global Action
The Pakistani premier also said, “We appreciate Iran’s efforts in supporting the people of Gaza. Atrocities in Gaza are ongoing, and the people are under siege and starving. We call on other countries to help establish a ceasefire and bring peace to Gaza.” In closing, Sharif called for resolving the crisis in Kashmir and recognizing the region’s right to independence.
