WANA (Aug 07) – Brigadier General Iraj Masjedi, Deputy Coordinator of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that the weapons of the Resistance are the weapons of the Lebanese people for defending their land, and emphasized that the disarmament plan will not succeed — neither in the Lebanese Defense Council nor in any other arena.

Speaking on the sidelines of the Arbaeen ceremony for the “martyrs of Iran’s power”, Masjedi referred to the factors behind the victories of the Resistance Axis, saying:

“The wise leadership of the Supreme Leader, the support of the people, and the capability of Iran’s Armed Forces are key pillars of the victories and progress of the Resistance front.”

He added: “Since the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Americans have sought to weaken the Islamic Republic through threats and conspiracies, but the result has been entirely the opposite. Today, the Islamic Republic of Iran is more powerful, more united, and more prepared than ever.”

General Masjedi also referred to the disarmament scenario of Hezbollah in Lebanon, calling it a failed plan by the United States and the Israeli regime, and stressed:

They seek to disarm the Resistance in Lebanon, but they will take this dream to their graves. The arms of the Resistance are the arms of the Lebanese people for defending their land, and this plan will not succeed — neither in the Lebanese Defense Council nor in any other arena.”

At the end, the Quds Force Deputy emphasized: “The Resistance forces are always ready and well-equipped, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared for any possible scenario.”

Following recent controversies surrounding the U.S.-proposed document for Lebanon — which was introduced several weeks ago and whose most prominent demand was the rapid disarmament of the Resistance — and Lebanon’s official response, Hezbollah has issued a reaction.

In a statement responding to the Lebanese government’s decision to restrict arms solely to the Lebanese army and to disarm the Resistance, Hezbollah declared that such a decision is a blatant violation of the National Charter and the ministerial statement.

Hezbollah further stated that the government of Nawaf Salam has made a grave mistake by adopting this decision:

“The Islamic Resistance of Lebanon affirms that what the government has decided is part of a strategy of surrender and a clear violation of the foundations and principles of sovereignty.”

In this critical statement, Hezbollah added: “The decision of the Nawaf Salam government weakens Lebanon’s sovereignty and gives Israel freedom to interfere in Lebanon’s security, geography, politics, and future existence.”
