WANA (Jun 10) – A third maritime incident has been reported in Omani waters within the past two days, following two separate tanker fires that occurred in the region earlier.

 

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said it had received a report of an incident approximately 20 nautical miles northeast of Sohar, Oman.

 

The latest event comes after Oman’s Maritime Security Centre reported a fire aboard an Indian tanker on Tuesday, about 52 nautical miles northwest of Muscat near Sultan Qaboos Port. Later that day, another incident was reported roughly 15 nautical miles northeast of Masirah Island.

Some Western media outlets have claimed that the two incidents reported on Tuesday were the result of actions carried out by the United States. However, these claims have not been independently verified, and no official confirmation has been issued.

 

According to preliminary information, the engine room of a tanker caught fire in the latest incident. Local authorities and emergency teams have been assisting with the evacuation of crew members. Officials said one person was injured, while two crew members remain missing.
