Thousands Form Human Chain Across Iran’s Hormozgan Province

WANA (Jul 20) – Tens of thousands of people across Iran’s southern Hormozgan Province formed human chains simultaneously in all 13 counties and 10 islands of the Persian Gulf, reaffirming their support for Iran’s sovereignty and declaring their readiness to defend the Strait of Hormuz.

The nationwide event was held on Monday, July 20, 2026, with large gatherings taking place on strategically important islands, including Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb, Qeshm, and Hormuz.

In the provincial capital of Bandar Abbas, thousands of residents joined hands along a five-kilometer stretch of the city’s waterfront, extending from Shahid Haghani Pier to Ghadir Park, while waving Iranian flags.

Participants sang Iran’s national anthem and patriotic songs, emphasizing national unity and the importance of safeguarding the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. The event drew people of all ages, including families, youth, and community groups, reflecting broad public participation.

According to local reports, some participants also expressed their willingness to serve in the country’s defense if needed. The gathering was coordinated with local authorities, including the Basij and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The program concluded with a vehicle parade by Basij volunteers and units of the IRGC Navy along Bandar Abbas’ coastal boulevard.

Organizers said the event was intended to demonstrate the unity of the people of Hormozgan Province, highlight the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, and reaffirm public support for Iran’s territorial integrity and national security.
