Three Israelis Arrested for Alleged Espionage for Iran
WANA (Oct 01) – Israeli media outlets report that the Shin Bet (Israel’s internal security service) and Israeli police have arrested two residents of Holon on suspicion of carrying out security missions for Iranian intelligence. Formal charges have been filed against them, and indictments are expected soon.
According to reports published on Tuesday, the two suspects have been identified as Maor Kringel and Tal Amram. Israeli authorities allege that Kringel was initially detained in August during an investigation into claims that he photographed military bases and public locations under the direction of Iranian operatives.
The reports further claim that Kringel attempted to continue his alleged activities during the recent conflict between Israel and Iran.
The Israeli media stated that both suspects were allegedly paid in cryptocurrency for their work and had attempted to recruit others to participate in similar operations.
In a separate report by another Israeli media, an Israeli reserve soldier was also arrested on suspicion of engaging in security-related activities on behalf of Iran. He is suspected of establishing contact with Iranian intelligence and taking photographs of military installations while serving in the reserves.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and the official indictments will be released shortly.
