WANA (Jun 16) – Following the announcement of an understanding between Iran and the United States aimed at ending the recent hostilities, every official statement and message has the potential to shed light on the broader contours of the arrangement.

 

Although officials on both sides have emphasized that a final agreement has not yet been reached and that negotiations will continue in subsequent stages, the reactions and positions expressed by political figures and senior officials indicate that issues extending beyond the cessation of military confrontation—such as regional security, the role of the Resistance Axis, and the preservation of Iran’s red lines—remain at the center of attention.

 

Against this backdrop, three recent messages and statements from Lebanon and Tehran offer different perspectives on how Iranian officials and allies view the emerging understanding.

 

Sheikh Naim Qassem’s letter to Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf:

“Words are insufficient to express our profound gratitude for your strong and supportive positions toward Lebanon and the Resistance, and for making the obligation of the Israeli regime to halt its military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, the first and foundational provision of the understanding between Iran and the United States.

 

You transformed the sole effective flame of hope for preventing Israeli-American aggression against Lebanon into a reality that demonstrated to the world that Iran stands with justice, resistance, and the oppressed.”

 

President Masoud Pezeshkian:

“What has been agreed upon is an important step toward stopping the war and beginning negotiations, but a final agreement has not yet been reached. The Islamic Republic of Iran has prepared itself for all possible scenarios, and the government’s focus—whether an agreement is reached or not—remains sincere service to the people. The Iranian nation learned from its martyred Imam never to submit to humiliation.”

 

Iran’s Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni Ejei:

“Our officials will negotiate with full awareness and vigilance. Our diplomacy is a continuation of the struggle carried out both in the field and among the people.

 

Our negotiators will certainly not compromise, even to the slightest degree, on the legitimate rights of the Iranian nation, the rights of the Resistance Axis in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and other arenas, nor on seeking justice for those who were killed, foremost among them our martyred Imam.”
