WANA (Jul 10) – U.S. President Donald Trump said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has asked us to continue ‘talks.’ We have agreed to do so, but the United States has stated to them, in no uncertain terms, that the Ceasefire is OVER!”

 

Trump’s latest remarks add to what Iranian media describe as continued contradictions in his statements regarding a ceasefire, negotiations, and a potential agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

 

CNN reported on Thursday, citing regional sources, that Pakistan and Qatar are working to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiating table.

 

Pakistan and Qatar served as the main mediators during previous negotiations held in Switzerland, which ultimately resulted in a memorandum of understanding signed in mid-June.

 

Oman had also helped facilitate earlier rounds of diplomatic talks.

 

On Wednesday night, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry called on all parties to exercise restraint and “refrain from any actions that could further undermine regional peace and stability.”

 

Reuters also reported on Friday, citing an informed source, that a Qatari delegation of negotiators had arrived in Iran to meet with Iranian officials.
