WANA (Jun 09) – U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on Tuesday that Iran was responsible for the downing of an American Apache helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz.

 

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he had been informed by the U.S. military that Iranian forces targeted an advanced AH-64 Apache helicopter that was conducting a patrol mission over the strategic waterway the previous night.

 

According to Trump, both pilots survived the incident and were safely recovered. However, he warned that the United States may respond to what he described as an attack if deemed necessary.

The claim came hours after The New York Times reported that a U.S. Army Apache helicopter had crashed near the Strait of Hormuz. The newspaper said both crew members had been safely evacuated and transported to a secure location.

 

The report did not specify the cause of the crash, noting only that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.

 

As of the time of publication, Iranian officials had not commented on Trump’s allegation, and no independent or official source had confirmed that the helicopter was brought down by Iranian forces.
