WANA (Jul 13) – U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed in a message posted on his Truth Social platform that Washington will reinstate what he described as a “blockade of Iran.”

 

According to the international desk of Fars News Agency, Trump stated that the Strait of Hormuz would remain open but claimed that restrictions would be imposed on Iranian vessels entering and leaving the strategic waterway.

 

“The Strait of Hormuz is open and will remain open with or without Iran. We are bringing back the ‘blockade of Iran.’ The name was chosen because it prevents Iranian ships from entering or leaving,” Trump wrote.

 

The U.S. president further claimed that all other countries would be able to use the Strait freely and fairly, adding that the United States would henceforth be known as the “guardian of the Strait of Hormuz.”

 

Trump also claimed that the U.S. would charge a 20 percent fee on all cargo passing through the waterway, describing it as a necessary cost for carrying out security and safety responsibilities in what he called one of the world’s most unstable regions.

 

He added that the process would begin rapidly.
