WANA (Jun 12) – U.S. President Donald Trump has once again claimed that the conflict with Iran has come to an end and that Tehran has committed to never acquiring nuclear weapons, even as uncertainty continues to surround the negotiation process and Iranian sources deny that any preliminary agreement has been approved.

 

Speaking in his latest remarks, Trump said, “We ended the war with Iran today, and they agreed that they will never have a nuclear weapon. That was the one thing we insisted on.”

 

He added, “That was our entire objective. It represented 95 percent of our goal, and they have committed to it in the strongest possible terms.”

 

The U.S. president also reiterated that the naval blockade of Iran’s ports would remain in place until a final agreement is reached.

 

Trump’s comments came just hours after a source familiar with Iran’s negotiating team told Fars News Agency that no text for a preliminary memorandum of understanding with the United States had been approved.

 

The statement was issued in response to a post by Trump on Truth Social, in which he claimed that Iran had agreed, at the highest level, to the text of an initial memorandum of understanding.

 

The latest claims from the U.S. president come amid continued tensions between Tehran and Washington. Despite the announcement of a ceasefire, the two sides reportedly experienced one of their most intense confrontations on Thursday morning, raising fresh questions about the future of negotiations and the prospects for reaching a final agreement.
