WANA (May 06) – U.S. President Donald J. Trump has issued a new ultimatum to Tehran, linking the end of the U.S. naval blockade to a controversial “one-page” deal that Iranian officials have already dismissed as psychological warfare.

The Presidential Ultimatum

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump addressed the military operation known as “Epic Fury” and the current maritime standoff:

“Assuming Iran agrees to give what has been agreed to, which is, perhaps, a big assumption, the already legendary Epic Fury will be at an end, and the highly effective Blockade will allow the Hormuz Strait to be OPEN TO ALL, including Iran. If they don’t agree, the bombing starts, and it will be, sadly, at a much higher level and intensity than it was before.”

The Proposed “One-Page” Deal

The President’s remarks follow a report by Axios detailing a 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) allegedly negotiated by Trump representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner through both direct and indirect channels.

According to the report, the White House believes it is nearing a breakthrough that would declare an end to regional warfare and initiate a 30-day period of intensive negotiations in either Islamabad or Geneva to reach a detailed final accord.

Sources stated that while no agreement has been finalized yet, this represents the closest the two sides have been to a deal since the war began, and the U.S. expects a response from Iran on several key points within the next 48 hours.

Under the terms of this framework, Iran would commit to a long-term suspension of uranium enrichment—with the U.S. demanding 20 years while Iran has proposed five—and would agree to remove high-enriched uranium from its territory, possibly transferring it to the United States.

Furthermore, the deal would require Iran to operate no underground nuclear facilities and submit to an enhanced, intrusive inspection regime by the IAEA.

In exchange, the United States would gradually lift crippling sanctions and unfreeze billions of dollars in Iranian assets worldwide, while both nations would systematically remove restrictions and blockades within the Strait of Hormuz during the 30-day window.

Notably, the U.S. is seeking to include a “penalty clause” where any violation of enrichment commitments would automatically extend the suspension period, after which Iran would only be permitted to enrich up to a 3.67% level.

Tehran’s Reaction: “Finger on the Trigger”

Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, responded sharply:

“The Axios text is a list of American desires rather than a reality. The Americans will not obtain through a failed war what they could not achieve in face-to-face negotiations”. He warned that Iran remains “hand on the trigger” and is prepared to deliver a “hard and regrettable response” to any further military aggression.

Accusations of Market Manipulation

Seyed Mohammad Marandi, a member of the Iranian negotiating team, accused the White House of using media leaks for economic gain. “Axios is a tool for White House market manipulation,” Marandi stated, adding that the Islamic Republic is “fully prepared for a potential major attack” prior to President Trump’s upcoming visit to China.
