Trump Outlines Demands for Iran: Nuclear Ban, Open Strait of Hormuz, and Mine Clearing
WANA (May 29) – U.S. President Donald J. Trump has issued a detailed public statement outlining specific demands and agreements regarding Iran, focusing on its nuclear program, maritime operations, and the lifting of a naval blockade.
In a statement published on social media, Trump declared that “Iran must agree that they will never have a Nuclear Weapon or Bomb.”
Turning to regional maritime security, Trump stated that “The Hormuz Strait must be immediately open, no tolls, for unrestricted shipping traffic, in both directions.”
He added that all water mines, or bombs, will be terminated, noting that the U.S. has already removed numerous mines using “underwater mine sweepers.” According to the statement, “Iran will complete the immediate removal and/or detonation of any mines that are left, which will not be many!”.
Trump announced that ships caught in the Strait due to what he described as an “amazing and unprecedented Naval Blockade” will now see the blockade lifted, allowing them to “start the process of ‘heading home!'”.
He included a personal message to the crews, writing, “Say HELLO to your wives, husbands, parents, and families from me, your favorite President!”
The statement also detailed a plan to handle enriched material buried underground following a U.S. military strike. Trump wrote that enriched material, which he noted is “sometimes referred to as ‘Nuclear Dust,'” is buried deep underground beneath “virtually collapsed mountains, caused by our powerful B2 Bomber attack 11 months ago”.
He stated that this material will be unearthed by the United States, which he asserted is “agreed, is the only Country, along with China, with the mechanical capability of doing so!”.
This process will be carried out “in close coordination and conjunction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, plus the International Atomic Energy Agency, and DESTROYED.”
Regarding financial terms, Trump emphasized that “No money will be exchanged, until further notice,” while adding that “Other items, of far less importance, have been agreed to.”
Concluding his message, Trump stated that he would be “meeting now, in the Situation Room, to make a final determination,” and thanked the public for their attention to the matter.
