WANA (Jul 08) – U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday repeated his threat to seize Khark Island, claiming U.S. forces destroyed 28 Iranian boats overnight and would destroy more later tonight. He also said the United States would “most likely” carry out another strike on Iran tonight.

 

Speaking alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said the issue with Iran was “not regime change, but nuclear weapons.”

 

Referring to the previous night’s U.S. strikes on areas in southern Iran and Tehran’s subsequent response, Trump stated: “We hit them very hard last night. I’ll probably hit them hard again tonight.”

 

Earlier at the NATO summit, Trump said he believed the memorandum with Tehran was “finished,” while adding that negotiators could “continue talks if they want.”

 

Trump also acknowledged doubts about the durability of any future agreement with Iran, saying that even if an agreement were reached, “we don’t think it will last.” He further said the United States may reimpose a naval blockade against Iran.

 

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who attended Trump’s meeting with Zelensky, echoed the administration’s position, saying: “Tonight, if necessary, on President Trump’s orders, we will strike even harder and deeper.”
