WANA (Jun 11) – U.S. President Donald Trump claimed early Thursday that military operations against Iran would soon be halted, suggesting that the current escalation was nearing its conclusion.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump asserted that Iranian officials had requested an end to the bombing campaign. “The Iranians asked me to stop the bombing, and the attacks will end very soon,” he claimed.

Trump also sought to distance Israel from the military action, stating that “the Israelis had no role in these attacks against Iran.”

In another part of the interview, the U.S. president claimed that he had spoken directly with Iranian officials. He further alleged that U.S. forces had launched 49 Tomahawk missiles toward targets in Iran.

Trump also stated that American fighter jets were operating over Iranian airspace and were targeting radar installations and air defense systems in the country’s southwest.

Reiterating Washington’s pressure campaign, Trump warned that if Iran failed to sign the agreement sought by the United States, additional military strikes could follow.

Meanwhile, Iran’s state broadcaster, IRIB News Agency, quoted a senior Iranian official as strongly rejecting Trump’s claims. According to the report, the official described Trump’s assertion that Iranian authorities had contacted him as “completely false.”

The same official further stated that Trump’s “false claim” regarding communications with Iranian officials was intended to provide political cover for what he described as a retreat from confrontation with Iran.
