WANA (Jul 04) – Donald Trump said he had been following the funeral ceremony of Iran’s late leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, and was surprised by the large turnout and the emotional scenes of Iranians mourning the late leader.

 

On Saturday, Trump claimed that Iranians were “pleading for a deal,” but said both sides had agreed to suspend negotiations for one week until the funeral ceremonies conclude.

 

Repeating his previous threats, Trump said, “They’re all there. With one shot, we could take them all out, but we won’t, because then there would be no one left to negotiate with.” He also claimed that neither side would open fire on the other during the pause in talks.

 

Trump added that Benjamin Netanyahu had requested a meeting with him, which could take place early next week. “We get along very well, but you know who the boss is, and he knows who the boss is,” Trump said.

 

It is reported that several of Trump’s advisers have become increasingly skeptical of Netanyahu in the months following their February meeting. A U.S. official told the outlet that many of Trump’s closest advisers believe Netanyahu “has been wrong about almost everything.”

 

According to the report, the United States and Israel launched their second military operation against Iran on Feb. 28, 2026, during ongoing negotiations. A temporary ceasefire, brokered by Pakistan, was announced on April 9, 2026, followed by the start of direct Tehran-Washington talks in Islamabad.

 

The report added that, after mediation by Pakistan, Qatar, and several other regional countries, Iran and the United States reached an agreement. A memorandum of understanding was electronically signed on June 18, 2026, by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump.

 

The memorandum outlines the framework for ending military operations, implementing mutual commitments, and launching a 60-day period of technical negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement.
