Trump Security Meeting on Iran
WANA (Apr 27) – U.S. sources have reported that a high-level security meeting focused on Iran will be held at the White House on Monday. The session is expected to be chaired by President Donald Trump and attended by senior national security and foreign policy advisers in the Situation Room.
According to Axios, the meeting comes as negotiations between Tehran and Washington remain deadlocked, while regional tensions continue to rise.
Sources familiar with the matter said the main agenda will be to review the stalled diplomatic track with Iran and assess possible U.S. options for the next steps. Both diplomatic and security scenarios are expected to be discussed.
Olivia Viles, a White House spokesperson, responded to the report by saying: “These are sensitive diplomatic negotiations, and the United States will not negotiate through the media.” She added that Washington would only accept an agreement that serves the interests of the American people and prevents Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
The meeting follows earlier remarks by Trump in an interview with Fox News, in which he said he intended to maintain maritime pressure on Iran in hopes of bringing negotiations back on track.
The decision to convene a Situation Room meeting suggests that the Iran file has once again become an urgent foreign policy priority for the White House, as the administration weighs its next move between pressure and diplomacy.
