Trump: Talks With Iran Continue
WANA (Jun 02) – U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed reports suggesting that communications between Tehran and Washington have been suspended, claiming that exchanges between the two sides are continuing and that no one yet knows where the talks will ultimately lead.
In a post published Tuesday evening on his Truth Social platform, Trump said that contacts between the United States and Iran have remained active in recent days.
According to Trump, communications have continued consistently over the past several days, including during the last four days, contradicting media reports that suggested dialogue between Tehran and Washington had been halted.
The U.S. president criticized what he described as “fake news” reports, arguing that claims of a breakdown in communications between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States were inaccurate. He added that the outcome of the ongoing exchanges remains uncertain, but stressed that “the time has come to reach a deal with Iran, one way or another.”
Trump’s remarks come as both Tehran and Washington have previously indicated that significant progress has been made toward a framework agreement aimed at ending the current conflict, although several outstanding issues still require further discussion before any final arrangement can be concluded.
According to Iranian officials, the proposed framework includes measures related to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, confidence-building steps by the United States—including the release of frozen Iranian assets—and an end to military confrontations across multiple fronts. Under the reported framework, these measures would be followed by a new, time-limited round of negotiations focused on Iran’s nuclear program.
Trump’s latest comments highlight the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of U.S.-Iran diplomacy, as neither side has yet released the full details of any potential agreement or provided a clear timeline for its implementation.
