WANA (Jun 10) – U.S. President Donald Trump said Washington is still working toward an agreement with Iran, while simultaneously warning that Tehran could face further military action as early as today.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Wednesday, Trump said the United States has been engaged in negotiations with Iran for months and insisted that Tehran should sign what he described as a “good” and “meaningful” agreement.

“We want a deal that works. We do not want a deal like the Obama-era nuclear agreement,” Trump said.

The U.S. president also claimed that the two sides had already reached an understanding on the nuclear issue, arguing that Iran had accepted it would not possess nuclear weapons and that only the formal signing of the agreement remained.

Asked whether the United States might target Iranian infrastructure, including power plants and bridges, Trump declined to provide details but suggested such action remained an option.

Trump also repeated his earlier claim regarding a U.S. helicopter incident in the Persian Gulf, saying Washington would respond to the event.

“We hit Iran hard yesterday, and we may strike Iran again today,” he said.

The president further claimed that Iran was delaying the completion of the agreement, adding that the two sides were close to a deal but that Tehran continued to stall.

His remarks came after Iranian officials rejected any involvement in the helicopter incident. Iran’s deputy foreign minister previously stated that Tehran was not responsible and noted that unintended incidents can occur in the strategically sensitive and heavily trafficked Strait of Hormuz.

Trump also announced that he would deliver a major address later in the day, fueling speculation about potential new U.S. policy announcements regarding Iran.
