Trump’s Claim on Iran Planning to Execute 800 People Is False
WANA (Jan 23) – Iran’s Prosecutor-General has dismissed a recent statement by the U.S. President alleging that Washington prevented “the execution of 800 people” in Iran, calling it “entirely false” and devoid of any factual basis.
Mohammad Mohebi, Iran’s Prosecutor-General, said in remarks carried by Iranian state media that no such figure has ever existed and that Iran’s judiciary had neither the plan nor the intention to carry out such executions.
Responding to Donald Trump’s comments, Mohebi stressed that Iran’s judiciary operates independently and is not influenced by external pressure. According to him, a separation of powers is firmly in place in Iran, and “no domestic institution takes orders from foreign actors.”
Mohebi further characterized Trump’s statements regarding Iran’s Supreme Leader as “a form of declaration of war,” warning that any hostile action could trigger reciprocal responses. He said U.S. and Israeli interests in the region could become targets under such circumstances.
The remarks come amid an escalation of heated rhetoric between Tehran and Washington, as both countries have adopted sharply conflicting positions in recent months over Iran’s internal affairs and the nuclear file.
