Two Explosions in Southern Iran, Assassination Rumors Denied
WANA (Jan 31) – Two separate explosions were reported in southern Iran, killing at least four people and prompting emergency response operations, according to official sources.
Gas Explosion in Ahvaz Killed Five
In Ahvaz, in Khuzestan province, five people were killed and two injured following a gas explosion in a residential unit, reports said. The Fire Department announced that debris removal operations are still ongoing and will continue until all possible individuals trapped under the rubble are located.
Blast in Bandar Abbas Causes Injuries
At the same time, the Director General of Crisis Management in Hormozgan province said a loud blast heard in parts of Bandar Abbas was caused by an explosion at a residential home and was not related to any other incidents.
According to reports, more than 10 vehicles in the vicinity of the building have also been damaged to varying degrees, 14 people were injured and were immediately transferred to medical centers for treatment, and one person died.
The explosion occurred in an eight-story building on one of the side streets of Moallem Boulevard in Bandar Abbas.
IRGC Navy Commander Assassination Rumors Denied
Following these two incidents, several Telegram channels circulated widespread rumors claiming the assassination of Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy.
According to Persian-language media outlets and IRGC public relations statement, these reports are completely false and were produced and disseminated as part of what was described as an anti-Iran psychological operation.
IRGC Denies Drone Attacks on Hormozgan Bases
Following another claim, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy denied reports of any drone attacks on its bases in Hormozgan province, stating that no buildings affiliated with the force have been damaged.
The statement emphasized that the circulated news is not credible and urged the public to follow information about incidents only through official and reliable channels.
