Two Fuel-Smuggling Vessels Seized in Persian Gulf Waters
WANA (Nov 29) – The prosecutor of Kish Island announced the seizure of two vessels carrying 80,000 liters of smuggled fuel in the waters surrounding the island.
Ali Salmizadeh, the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor of Kish, stated that following the establishment of a maritime task force to combat fuel smuggling in the Persian Gulf—and under judicial orders—officers identified and seized two vessels transporting illegal fuel.
He added that during inspections of the vessels, 80,000 liters of smuggled fuel were discovered and confiscated.
According to Salmizadeh, the smugglers had attempted to modify the structure of the vessels and install additional tanks on deck to transport fuel outside the country. With the vigilance of the officers, the targeted vessels were detected and intercepted before the smuggling operation could proceed.
The Kish prosecutor emphasized that actions against fuel smugglers will continue “firmly and without leniency.”
Salmizadeh noted that combating smuggling—especially organized fuel smuggling—is a top priority for Hormozgan’s judiciary to support the growth and development of the national economy. This effort is being pursued through the establishment of the operational task force against fuel smuggling, enhanced oversight, and intensified enforcement against violators.
