WANA (Nov 23) – Two Iranian short films are garnering international attention this season. Sweet Perfume has been selected for the competitive section of the Euroshorts Film Festival in Poland, while She Is Not Here has secured the award for Best Short Film at Italy’s Terni Film Festival.

 

Sweet Perfume, directed and produced by Mohammadreza Mohammadi, will screen at the 34th edition of Euroshorts, a festival established in 1992 by the Young Cinema Foundation of Poland. This year’s event features 75 international titles and runs from December 1–13, 2025, across Poland.

 

The film previously won Best Film at the 9th Short Long World Festival in Argentina and has been showcased at festivals in Italy, Nigeria, and several other countries.

 

Meanwhile, She Is Not Here, written and directed by Saeed Seyri, earned the Best Short Film award at the 21st Terni Film Festival in Italy. The festival, held November 8–16, focuses on themes such as peace, international dialogue, migration, and social justice.

 

The 14-minute film, starring Sara Maili and Alireza Gilouri, follows a nine-year-old girl named Kiana who suffers psychological trauma after an accident, discovering that her sketchbook can mysteriously alter the world around her.

 

She Is Not Here has also previously received the Best Director award at Iceland’s Pigeon Festival and was named Best and Most Influential Film at Canada’s Hecare Festival.
